Recently, it was reported that the Genesis G80 sedan had been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the agency's highest rating. The award was given to G80 models equipped with specific headlights, and extends the model's string of earning this honor to a third consecutive year.

In order for a vehicle to earn a Top Safety Pick+ designation, it much receive ratings of "Good" in six crashworthiness categories. This year, IIHS tighten their criteria to require that a vehicle score a "Good" rating in the passenger-side protection during the small overlap front crash testing. With this increased requirement, there were only about 30 vehicles to earn this top rating, which also requires an "Advanced" or "Superior" rating for front crash prevention and a headlights rating of "Good."

The Genesis G80 comes with a standard suite of safety and driver-assistance features that includes lane keep assist, blind spot warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and driver attention alert just to name a few. The specific headlights cited by the IIHS are the optional dynamic bending lights with high beam assist that come as part of the Ultimate package.

In a press release, Manfred Fitzgerald, Executive Vice-President and Global Head of the Genesis Brand, remarked, "There is absolutely no compromise when it comes to customer safety," said. "Genesis will continue to put our vehicles at the highest standards of safety as we continue to expand our product portfolio."

At Genesis of Dallas, we're proud to offer the premium Genesis lineup, especially given the company's commitment to helping preserve our Dallas, Irving, Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Carrollton customers' safety.
